CARICOM and Regional Organisations Convene Symposium to Address Transformation in Caribbean Education

The Regional Symposium and Policy Dialogue on Transforming Education will provide a platform for critical regional stakeholders to determine methods for transforming education delivery across the Caribbean. The event, which is scheduled from 2 to 4 October 2024 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in the Cayman Islands, will be hosted by the CARICOM Secretariat in collaboration with the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB/the Bank), the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Commission, and The University of the West Indies (UWI).

Caribbean Public Health Day: from Awareness to Action - Public Health Matters

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, 3 July 2024 - Caribbean Public Health Day (CPHD) is celebrated annually on 2 July to raise awareness about public health’s vital role in the lives of Caribbean people and to highlight the work of the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA). This day coincides with the anniversary of CARPHA, the Region’s sole public health agency, which was legally established in July 2011 and operationalized in 2013 following the signing of an Intergovernmental Agreement by CARICOM Heads of Government.

CARICOM Youth Leaders to Implement Climate Change Mitigation Projects Following Successful Training Initiative

CARICOM Youth Ambassadors (CYAs) and regional youth leaders spent four engaging days (23-26 April) at the CARICOM Secretariat in Georgetown, Guyana, where they built their capacity to effect change on climate change and health issues. As part of the Pan American Health Organisation’s (PAHO) Climate Change and Health Project (CCH), young leaders across the Region are receiving education, funding, and training to create and implement projects in their communities that will address these critical issues.

Digitalisation of TVET Delivery Project

The CARICOM Secretariat, in collaboration with the Caribbean Association of National Training Authorities (CANTA), developed the Digitalisation of TVET Delivery project in November 2022 in response to the Call for Proposals from the Trilateral Technical Cooperation between Brazil, the European Union (EU) and Germany. Subsequently, the HRD Programme of the CARICOM Secretariat secured €700,000 in technical support from the Trilateral Technical Cooperation to implement the project in CANTA Member States.
