MASS MIGRATION OF CARIBBEAN PROFESSIONALS CAUSE FOR CONCERN

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Dr Edward Greene, Assistant Secretary-General for Human and Social Development, of the CARICOM Secretariat is advocating for the Caribbean Community to appropriate policies necessary to plug the mass migration of Caribbean professionals - especially nurses, teachers and doctors - to developed countries.

THREE WEEKS TO CARICOM AGRICULTURE DONOR CONFERENCE

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Preparations are well advanced for the hosting by CARICOM of an international Donor Conference at the Crowne Plaza Trinidad Hotel, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, on 2 June 2007. JOINT DECLARATION ISSUED ON THE OCCASION OF THE SECOND CARICOM-SICA SUMMIT OF HEADS OF STATE AND GOVERNMENT, 12 MAY 2007, BELIZE CITY, BELIZE

We, the Heads of State and Government and their representatives of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Central American Integration System (SICA) (hereinafter called the Parties) meeting in Belize City, Belize on the 12th of May 2007 on the occasion of the Second CARICOM-SICA Summit.

Considering the objectives and commitments assumed by the Parties at, the historic, First CARICOM- SICA Summit, held on 5th February 2002 in Belize City.

CLIMATE CHANGE ON AGENDA FOR CARICOM-SICA SUMMIT

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Climate Change and Energy issues are among the items on the agenda of the Second Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Integration System of Central America (SICA) who meet in Belize on Saturday 12 May 2007.

The one-day meeting will be preceded on the afternoon of 11 May by a meeting between the Foreign Ministers of CARICOM and Central America also in Belize. The CARICOM Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) has been meeting in Belize from 10 May.

CARICOM SHOULD LEAD IN DIASPORA YOUTH IDENTITY

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Dr Edward Greene, Assistant Secretary-General for Human and Social Development, of the CARICOM Secretariat is encouraging and advocating a closer relationship between the Diaspora and Caribbean Youth; a relationship he describes as “vital to an appreciation of the Caribbean identity.”

CONFERENCE ON THE CARIBBEAN 2007 : YOUTH PARTICIPATION SEEN AS OPPORTUNE
