CARICOM SUPPORTS TRAINING OF SOLAR WATER HEATER TECHNICIANS

(CARCIOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Regional manufacturers of solar water heaters and other stakeholders of the solar heating industry will participate in a three-day workshop at the Divi Southwinds Hotel in Barbados.

The workshop, from 27-29 February 2008, will be facilitated by the Caribbean Renewable Energy Development Programme (CREDP) of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat.

CARICOM SECRETARY GENERAL HAILS SERVICE OF KEITH SOBION

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) H.E., Edwin Carrington has hailed the service of Mr Keith Sobion to the legal fraternity of Trinidad and Tobago, CARICOM and the wider Commonwealth.

In a message of condolence on the passing of Mr. Sobion, the Secretary-General lauded the contributions of the Executive Director of the Council of Legal Education (CLE) and former Principal of the Normal Manley Law School and to the development of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ).

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community and Staff of the Secretariat are stunned and appalled at the senseless, brutal killings in Bartica, Essequibo, Guyana, on Sunday, 17 February of 13 people, including three police officers, by an armed gang.

CARICOM SEEKS ITALY’S SUPPORT ON EPA

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will seek the support of countries such as Italy to sensitise other members of the European Community on the challenges that small countries face in adjusting to new reciprocal arrangements under the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), CARICOM Secretary-General H.E. Edwin Carrington said.
