48TH MEETING OF CARIBBEAN METEOROLOGICAL COUNCIL OPENS

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The call for greater collaboration among agencies responsible for weather and climate services as well as a coordinated response to Climate Change was the motif of this morning’s opening ceremony of the 48th Session of the Caribbean Meteorological Council.

CARICOM SECRETARIAT URGES CLOSER LINKAGES BETWEEN DISASTER MANAGEMENT AGENCIES

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)  Dr. Edward Greene, Assistant Secretary-General of the CARICOM Secretariat told the opening ceremony of the 48th Session of the Caribbean Meteorological Council  today that it was necessary to re-position the Caribbean Meteorological Organisation (CMO) to address developmental concerns in the international environment.

World AIDS Day provides us all with an opportunity to reflect, celebrate and take stock of the mixed fortunes that are being experienced by the Caribbean Region, and indeed the world in their respective responses to the HIV and AIDS epidemic.

FIRST PUBLIC SCREENING OF HIV EDUTAINMENT FILM IN SURINAME

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The first public screening of the HIV edutainment film “Sma Mofo/Gossip: Shirley and John” will take place on 1 December 2008 in Paramaribo, Suriname to observe World AIDS Day.
