CARICOM YOUTH OFFICIALS TO CRITIQUE YOUTH REPORT

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) More than seventy-five youth representatives are meeting in Suriname to give a final critique to the report of the CARICOM Commission on Youth Development (CCYD) in the run up to the Special Summit of CARICOM Heads of Government set for the end of January, 2010.

The joint meeting of CARICOM Youth Affairs Directors, Youth Ambassadors and representatives of Inter-Agency Advisory Committees on Youth provides the platform for this critique, at the Courtyard Marriott on 1-2 December.

STRATEGY FOR FOOD AND NUTRITION SECURITY FOR THE CARIBBEAN TO BE DEVELOPED

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) A wide cross-section of experts will start the process of formulating a food and nutrition policy for the Caribbean when they meet in Guyana next week.

The meeting takes place 30 November- 1st December 2009 in the form of a workshop and is being coordinated by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN).

CARICOM observer mission pleased with conduct of referendum

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) At the invitation of Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, a four-member CARICOM Referendum Observer Mission observed the National Referendum on the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Constitution Bill 2009 held on Wednesday 25 November 2009.

REGIONAL TAX ADMINISTRATORS TO MEET IN GUYANA

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat will convene a Regional Seminar on the Administration of the Intra-CARICOM Double Taxation Agreement, (ICDTA) from 30 November to 1 December 2009 in Georgetown, Guyana.

Targeted at Heads of Tax Administrations and other officials in Tax Authorities across the Region, the Seminar is intended to provide an opportunity to review the administration and application of the Agreement.

GLOBAL CRISIS OPPORTUNITY FOR REGIONAL ACTION

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The current global economic and financial crisis underscored the need for Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Member States to exploit all the benefits available through strengthened and accelerated regional action by the Community.

His Excellency Edwin Carrington, Secretary-General of CARICOM made this point as he opened the Twelfth Meeting of the Budget Committee of the Community on Thursday at the CARICOM Secretariat headquarters, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana.
