His Excellency, Michel Joseph Martelly, President of the Republic of Haiti, presided.

CARICOM MOURNS DEATH OF ‘OUTSTANDING CARIBBEAN SON’

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is mourning the death of Ambassador Henry Gill, former Director General of the Caribbean Regional Negotiating Machinery (CRNM).

In a message of condolence, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, Secretary-General of CARICOM, recalled Ambassador Gill’s astuteness, tenacity and diplomacy in leading the Regional team in trade negotiations, as well as his nurturing and friendly disposition that endeared him to staff and colleagues alike.

SEE HAITI AS “AN OPPORTUNITY” FOR THE REGION - PRESIDENT MICHEL MARTELLY AT INTERESSIONAL OPENING

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) “Haiti should be seen and treated as an opportunity. Despite its difficulties, it represents a good opportunity for the Region, an opportunity for each CARICOM country,” His Excellency Michel Martelly, President of Haiti and Chairman of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) told the Region on Monday.

Take `hard look’ at institutions – Prime Minister Anthony

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Dr. the Hon Kenny Anthony, wants the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to take a “hard look” at the Institutions that it has created.
In remarks at the historic, two-day Twenty-Fourth Intersessional Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Prime Minister Anthony expressed full support for the initiatives that were being taken to transform and empower the CARICOM Secretariat.

Arrival statement of the caribbean community (CARICOM) electoral observer mission to Grenada parliamentary elections on 19 february 2013

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) was invited by the Government of Grenada to mount a CARICOM Electoral Observer Mission (CEOM) to observe the Grenada Parliamentary Elections.

In response to that invitation, a seven-member delegation, under the leadership of Chief of Mission, Dr. Jennifer Van Dijk-Silos, Chairperson of the Independent Electoral Council of the Republic of Suriname has arrived to observe the conduct of the taking of the poll.

STRENGTHEN COMMITMENT TO INTEGRATION – SECRETARY-GENERAL URGES COMMUNITY

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, has issued a charge to the Region to stave off existing challenges by strengthening “our commitment to integration as the only way for us all to survive and prosper.”
