World Meteorological Day 2025: Closing the Early Warning Gap Together

The Caribbean Meteorological Organization (CMO), joined the global community in celebrating World Meteorological Day on Sunday, 23 March 2025, united under the theme 'Closing the Early Warning Gap Together'.

As the Caribbean continues to face compounded crises, this year’s observance of World Meteorological Day highlights the importance of partnerships in ensuring that everyone in our Region can access timely, reliable, and actionable early warnings.

Preliminary Report | CARICOM Election Observation Mission to Curaçao General Elections held on 21 March 2025

By way of letter dated February 11, 2025, Dr. Richeline C. Joe, President of the Supreme Election Council of Curaçao (SEC), invited the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to send a technical team to observe the general elections in Curaçao. In response, the Secretary-General of CARICOM agreed to deploy a CARICOM Election Observation Mission (CEOM), comprised of three persons. The general elections were held on March 21, 2025.

The key objectives of the CEOM were to:

CARICOM, Peru advancing stronger diplomatic and cooperation ties

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) - The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Peru are strengthening their diplomatic and cooperation ties, with Secretary-General Dr. Carla Barnett noting that this relationship could serve as a prime example of South-South cooperation.

A significant step in solidifying their relationship was recorded on Wednesday 19 March, when Dr Barnett accredited a new Extraordinary Ambassador of Peru to CARICOM, Her Excellency Claudia Giuliana Betalleluz Otiura.

Arrival Statement of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Elections Observation Mission to the General Elections of Curaçao

By way of letter dated February 11, 2025, Dr. Richeline C. Joe, President of the Supreme Election Council of Curaçao (SEC) invited the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to send a technical team to observe the upcoming general elections in Curaçao. In response, a three-person team has been designated  to observe the General Elections of Curaçao which will be held on Friday, 21 March, 2025.

Focal points in training on agriculture market information system

Representatives and focal points from the agricultural sector in CARICOM, on Tuesday, began training on an electronic market information system that is scheduled to be activated by April month-end. The system is intended to provide timely and accurate information about the availability of commodities on the regional market.
