(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) President of the United States of America Barack Obama said a key focus of the CARICOM-US Summit would be to discuss issues related to energy. He said the CARICOM Region had some of the highest energy costs in the world and noted that Caribbean countries were particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change.
Prime Minister of Jamaica, the Most Honourable Portia Simpson Miller, on Thursday told President of the United States Barack Obama that he was on the right side of history in US-Cuba relations. She said the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Heads fully embraced the recent positive developments on the matter.

The Day is used to build public awareness that TB remains a major global health problem, responsible for illness among 9 million new people each year, and deaths of 1.5 million. Worldwide, TB ranks as the second leading cause of death from an infectious disease, after the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). This year’s theme Find, Treat, Cure TB focuses on TB diagnosis and case detection of those still not reached.
