Grenada seeking to overhaul electoral system

ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada, CMC – Grenada is examining the possibility of establishing an Elections Boundaries Commission as it seeks to overhaul its electoral system, a senior government official has said.
Parliamentary Secretary for Information in the Office of the Prime Minister, Winston Garraway, said the pledge by the   Organization of American States (OAS) to provide financial and technical could be used by St. George’s to establish the commission as part of the  overhaul of the current administrative structure of the Parliament Elections Office.

Antigua and Barbuda launches Citizenship by Investment programme

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – Antigua and Barbuda has launched its “Citizenship by Investment Programme” (CIP) with Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer saying the initiative is to generate investments and jobs for nationals and to put the island on the road to sustainable growth and development.

Antigua Reclassified As High Income

KINGSTON, Jamaica - In its publication on remittances released last month, the World Bank said Antigua & Barbuda has regained its status as a high income economy, leaving the majority of regional developing states behind.
The reversal comes after the island of 89,070 residents finalised an International Monetary Fund programme.
Alessandro Legrottaglie, the World Bank's senior country officer for Antigua, who also has responsibility for the OECS, said Wednesday that Antigua moved into the 'high income' category on July 1, 2013.
