TRINIDAD-CRIME-Two arrested for murder of schoolboy

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – The police have arrested two men in connection with Wednesday’s murder of a 16 year old on his first day at a new school. Kazim Maxine was killed as he waked out of the Laventille Technology and Continuing Education Centre. The police report that shortly after 2 pm Kazim and a fired were leaving the building when they were approached by two men who opened fire on Maxine, hitting him 12 times. He died on the spot, however, his friend was not injured.

JAMAICA-POLITICS-Governor General to receive second knighthood

KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC - Governor General Sir Patrick Allen will be knighted for a second time in a ceremony at his official residence on Monday. Sir Patrick who received the Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St. Michael and St. George from Queen Elizabeth II in 2009, will be invested as Knight of Grace in the Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem. The ceremony at King’s House, will be officiated by Professor Anthony Mellows, Lord Prior of St John, who will represent The Queen.

GUYANA-POLITICS-China providing funds for projects in Guyana

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – China are providing eight million US dollars for the implementation of a number of projects in Guyana. The two countries Thursday signed an economic and technical cooperation agreement with Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh praising Beijing’s efforts in the socio-economic development of his country. Singh made specific reference to the long-standing historical friendship between the two countries, recalling that Guyana was the first Caribbean country to establish formal diplomatic relations with China following its independence.

SURINAME-CONFERENCE -All set for South American summit

GUYANA-POLITICS-Guyana looking to deepen relations between South America and Caribbean

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC –President Donald Ramotar says he is optimistic about the possible integration of South America and the Caribbean as Guyana prepares to welcome Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro on Saturday. BACK TO SCHOOL MURDER

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, Express - A revenge attack was blocked by the police yesterday, about an hour after a Laventille schoolboy was murdered while walking out of a trade school on the first day of school. The group of about six men had items that looked like weapons stuffed in their front pockets and were attempting to run into the Bee¬tham Gardens when they were chased back into the hills by a team of heavily armed police officers who were on the scene of the murder in Laventille. The police also arrested two men from Beetham Gardens for the murder.
