Barbados Gov’t caps fuel prices - CARICOM Business

Effective August 19, consumers in Barbados will be paying less for gasoline and diesel as Prime Minister Mia Mottley announced that the price of fuel at the pump will be capped for the next five months.

Gasoline will cost BDS$4.48 (US$2.24) per litre, while diesel will be BDS$4.03 (US$2.01) until January 31, 2023. Mottley also said that the cap on the Value Added Tax (VAT) on gasoline and diesel, which was put in place five months ago, would be kept in place.

Cash for citizenship for Indians

NEW DELHI, India, CMC – Cricket may soon not be the only connection Indians have with the Caribbean, according to reports here. The Times of India in a report on Sunday said St. Kitts and Nevis, Dominica, and Antigua and Barbuda have “rolled out attractive cash-for-citizenship programs to woo Indian immigrants.” It said that Antigua and Barbuda is the latest to launch a citizenship-by-investment (CIP) program, opening up its borders to Indian immigrants in a month.

Building collapses in India; at least 45 dead

MUMBAI, India -- A residential building being constructed illegally on forest land in a suburb of India's financial capital collapsed into a mound of steel and concrete, killing at least 45 people and injuring more than 50 others, authorities said Friday. The eight-story building in the Mumbai suburb of Thane caved in Thursday evening, police said. Rescue workers with sledgehammers, gasoline-powered saws and hydraulic jacks struggled Friday to break through the tower of rubble in their search for possible survivors. Six bulldozers were brought to the scene.

T&T, India to expand economic partnerships

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad - Prospects for expanding economic partnerships between T&T and India will be the focus of the 2013 India Business Seminar which takes place tomorrow at the T&T Chamber of Industry and Commerce (TTCIC) Building, Westmoorings, from 8 am. Grenada to receive additional ICT support from India

ST GEORGE'S, Grenada (GIS) -- India's High Commissioner-designate to Grenada, Malay Mishra, has pledged his country’s continued support to Grenada in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

“India attaches great importance to her relations with Grenada,” he explained. “Under India’s Economic and Technical Cooperation Programme (ITEC), India has continued to assist Grenada in its capacity building in the IT sector.”
