(CMC) Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana and Barbados are on the cusp of the formation of a company to drive the process for the introduction of a regional ferry service.
Discussions hosted by Works and Transport Minister, Trinidad and Tobago, Rohan Sinanan on the operationalisation of the service were held on Thursday.
The company will comprise directors from each of the nations involved to facilitate operations.

As the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) celebrates 50 years since its creation, Prime Minister Trudeau of Canada and Prime Minister Skerrit of Dominica, Chair of the Conference of CARICOM Heads of Government, co-chaired the Canada-CARICOM Summit, under the theme “Strategic Partners for a Resilient Future.”
The Caribbean Community is on the right track to achieve its goal of reducing its high food import bill by 25 per cent by 2025, according to President of Guyana, His Excellency Mohamed Irfaan Ali.
President Ali, who is the lead Head of Government with responsibility for Agriculture in the CARICOM Quasi Cabinet, is confident of success even as he pointed out that “circumstances around us are changing every single day”.
“We believe that this is a fundamental part of the integration architecture, and at 50, we could not leave Trinidad and Tobago and not speak about the core of the regional integration movement, that is, people’s ability to move freely within the Caribbean Community.
