"In 2016, Belize faced a $20 million annual shortfall in biodiversity management. With today’s more ambitious goals, resource needs are even greater. Yet, accessing cooperation and finance remains challenging, hindering fast-tracked implementation of national biodiversity strategies.

Antigua and Barbuda will celebrate the country’s Forty-Third Anniversary of Independence on 1 November. To mark this occasion, CARICOM Secretary-General, Dr Carla Barnett issued a congratulatory message to the country’s Prime Minister, the Honourable Gaston Browne.

Representatives of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat held talks with their counterparts from the United Nations Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) on the margins of the Conference of Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP16) in Cali, Colombia.

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is deeply concerned by the ongoing differences being played out in public between the President of the Transitional Presidential Council (TPC) and the Prime Minister of Haiti. This growing lack of cohesion imperils the transitional process based on the spirit and the principles of compromise, consensus and inclusiveness set out in the Political Agreement of 11 March 2024 in Jamaica and the Political Accord of 3 April 2024 drawn up by the Haitian stakeholders.
