CARICOM Youth Ambassadors

The CARICOM Youth Ambassador Programme was launched in Saint Lucia in 1993 by the Heads of Government to mark the Twentieth Anniversary of CARICOM and was formally instituted in 1994. Since its inception, the Youth Ambassador Programme has contributed to increased youth knowledge and awareness of CARICOM issues and priorities; has raised the profile of young people at the national and regional levels; and has assisted in integrating the views and perspectives of young people from across the Region into national, regional and international policy and programmes.

CARICOM ASG highlights progress in Youth Development

Assistant Secretary General In Charge of Human and Social Development at the CARICOM Secretariat Dr, Douglas Slater  has highlighted a number of areas where progress has been made in youth development in the Region. Dr. Slater was speaking at the opening ceremony for a CARICOM Youth Ambassadors Orientation and Capacity Building Workshop. The event is being held at the CARICOM Secretariat in Georgetown, Guyana and will conclude on Thursday 8 June, 2017.

St Kitts and Nevis entrepreneur Anastasha Elliott is in Silicon Valley, San Francisco, USA, where she will learn about and explore first-hand what the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) has to offer. While there, she will also showcase her entrepreneurial talent. The GES is slated for June 22-24, 2016.

Launch of Human Resource Development Commission proof leaders improving CARICOM’s education system – Youth Ambassador

CARICOM Youth Ambassador from Barbados, Zuwena Perry believes that CARICOM leaders have shown evidence of their commitment to improving the Region’s education system. She expressed this sentiment during the launch of the Human Resource Commission at the Caribbean Development Bank in Barbados on Thursday evening. According to Ms. Perry the launch of the Human Resource Development Commission was proof that the Region’s leaders were actively seeking to improve the education sector within CARICOM.

CARICOM strengthens relations with NGOs in Guyana

Representatives of the Georgetown-based Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat recently visited East Berbice/Corentyne, Guyana, as part of efforts to strengthen relations with the Guyanese community.

The team of officials visited the locally and internationally acclaimed Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), St. Francis Community Developers (SFDC) to observe the organisation’s work.

CARICOM Youth Ambassadors Weigh in on their role in society

CARICOM Youth Ambassadors in the Federation have weighed in on their role in society, as well as youth issues in St. Kitts and Nevis in celebration of Youth Month 2015 which is observed in November under the theme “Give Youth a Voice and Inspire Greatness.”
