The CARICOM Multilateral Air Services Agreement (MASA) will be in focus at the 48th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM in Bridgetown, Barbados, from 19 – 21 February 2025, under the Chairmanship of the Hon. Mia Amor Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados.
Steps to establish a Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Digital Skills Commission will be discussed at the 48th Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM in Bridgetown, Barbados, 19-21 February 2025.
At their meeting in July last year under the chairmanship of the Hon. Dickon Mitchell, Lead Head of Government with responsibility for Science and Technology in the CARICOM Quasi Cabinet, the Heads of Government approved the Strategic Framework for Regional Digital Resilience 2025-2030.
(Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) - Describing 2024 as “very active and rewarding,” CARICOM Secretary-General, Dr Carla Barnett expressed optimism for 2025, noting the Community’s commitment to building on its achievements and embracing new challenges and opportunities.
At the 54th Meeting of the Community Council of Ministers on January 16, Dr Barnett highlighted the gains made in 2024, which she said should serve as a source of confidence as CARICOM continues to benefit its people.
“Meeting with Ambassador Comissiong was essential for aligning key priorities, including ensuring meaningful youth participation at the upcoming CARICOM Heads of Government Summit and advancing initiatives to engage young people across Barbados. This discussion provided an opportunity to strategise projects such as the proposed CARICOM Youth Workshop and outreach campaigns aimed at enhancing youth representation and increasing public awareness of CARICOM’s mission.”
As the Region seeks to consolidate integration in the year ahead, we look forward to continued collaboration with our stakeholders and partners, including the CARICOM Committee of Ambassadors and CARICOM Youth Ambassadors, as well as the guidance of the Bureau of the Conference, which will comprise Barbados, Grenada and Jamaica effective 1 January 2025.
The President of Guyana is confident that the investments in agriculture, policy formulation and the dedication of CARICOM Heads of Government will lead to success in reducing the Region’s high food import bill.
