At least 28 dead in “terror attack at Chinese train station

BEIJING, (Reuters) – At least 28 people were killed in a “violent terrorist attack” at a train station in the southwestern Chinese city of Kunming by a group of unidentified people brandishing knives, five of whom were shot dead, state media said on Sunday. Another 162 people were injured, the official Xinhua news agency added. It said the attack had taken place late on Saturday evening. “It was an organised, premeditated violent terrorist attack,” Xinhua said.

ANTIGUA-CRIME-Government condemns “terrorist attacks” in China

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – Antigua and Barbuda has “strongly condemned’ the murder of at least 28 people during the “terrorist attack” at a train station in Kunming, China over the weekend. Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer said that attack, which left more than 100 people injured when knife-wielding men attacked commuters, should be condemned and was “very distressing”. In a note to Premier Li Keqiang of the People’s Republic of China, Prime Minister Baldwin said he supports every effort by the government to bring those responsible for “this heinous crime to justice.

Addressing a China-Latin American Forum here on Tuesday, Sir Ronald argued that "while efforts at integration of Latin America and the Caribbean have started, they are at a very early stage of overcoming historical obstacles and impediments, and the smaller Caribbean economies continue to require special attention.

Earthquakes Hit Area of Northwestern China

HONG KONG — A series of earthquakes in Gansu Province in northwestern China set off landslides and building collapses in an impoverished mountainous region Monday, killing at least 56 people and injuring more than 400, according to figures from the Gansu Provincial Seismological Bureau that were being revised upward by the hour. The seismological bureau estimated the magnitude of the main earthquake at 6.6. The United States Geological Survey listed three fairly strong earthquakes in Gansu Province on Monday morning, with magnitudes of 5.9, 5.6 and 4.7.

China, Latin America, Caribbean forum opens

The second China-Latin America and the Caribbean Think Tank Forum opened Monday in Beijing.
China will work with Latin America and the Caribbean to implement agreements reached by the leaders of China and Latin American countries and enhance ties, State Councilor Yang Jiechi said at the forum's opening ceremony.
China attaches great importance to developing its relations with Latin America and the Caribbean, Yang noted.
