(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown): Renowned Guyanese cricketer Sir Clive Lloyd, and Jamaican regionalist and former CARICOM Secretary-General, Roderick Rainford, have been conferred with the Order of the Caribbean Community (OCC), the Region’s highest honour.
A major deliverable of the Special Ministerial Taskforce on Food Production and Food Security (MTF) is to assist with the de-risking of the sector through the provision of agricultural insurance for farmers within the CARICOM Region. It has truly been a long, but rewarding effort from all who have been involved in the process which has led us to where we are today. The Caribbean Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CCREEE) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Mohammad Rafik Nagdee as its new Executive Director, effective August 6, 2024.
Dr. Nagdee, a Barbadian national, emerged as the successful candidate during a rigorous three-stage recruitment process that was initiated in December 2023.

We are marking this Fifty-First Anniversary of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) as several Member States are assessing the extraordinary damage and destruction caused by Hurricane Beryl, the earliest recorded Category 5 hurricane in the Caribbean, and one of the most dangerous weather systems the Region has ever experienced.

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM), has been an active participant in the negotiations for the Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ) Agreement, a global Treaty approved by the United Nations General Assembly in June 2023. This Treaty focuses on the sustainable use and management of marine biodiversity beyond national jurisdictions.
