Caribbean rum producers to present 50th Anniversary Rum Blends to CARICOM governments

Caribbean rum producers will present specially developed 50th Anniversary Rum Blends to Caribbean Community (CARICOM) governments to honour the achievements of the Community over the past 50 years.

Producers in all rum producing CARICOM Member States, thirteen in total, which are also members of the West Indies Rum and Spirits Producers Association (WIRSPA ), will present their products to national governments during the month of June. 

Mega concert in honour of CARICOM

(National Cultural Foundation Barbados) Barbados has earmarked Monday, July 31, as the day dedicated to celebrating Caribbean unity with the CARICOM 50th Anniversary Concert!

Like many of our neighbouring countries, the Government is staging the concert which will showcase the best in Bajan and Caribbean talent featuring a mixture of different genres of music, spoken word pieces, dance and comedy.

CARICOM Competition Commission Celebrating 15 Years of Regional Service

The CARICOM Competition Commission (“CCC”) is established under Article 171 of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas. Located in Paramaribo, Suriname, the CCC is one of the key institutions to support the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME), ensuring that the aim of implementing the Single Market is not frustrated by cross-border anti-competitive business conduct. 

Beneficiaries laud CARICOM’s Aspiring Youth Empowerment Programme

The unprecedented economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in increased youth unemployment. To combat the situation, the Youth Development Programme, Human and Social Development Directorate of the CARICOM Secretariat developed and designed the “Aspiring Youth Empowerment Programme” (AYEP), which consisted of training and mentorship.

Address by President Paul Kagame - 45th Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community

It is a great honour to be with you today, as the Caribbean Community marks its 50th anniversary. I thank Prime Minister Skerrit for inviting me to address you on this historic occasion. I am delighted to pay my first visit to Trinidad and Tobago, and I thank Prime Minister Rowley for his country’s hospitality.

Over the past half-century, CARICOM has distinguished itself as one of the most vibrant regional integration organizations in the developing world. I wish to pay tribute to CARICOM’s many accomplishments.

Percival Austin Bramble, Former Chief Minister of Montserrat, is sole surviving signatory to Original Treaty of Chaguaramas

Ninety-two-year-old Percival Austin Bramble, former Chief Minister of Montserrat, is the only surviving Head of Government who signed the Treaty of Chaguaramas which established the Caribbean Community. Errol Barrow, Forbes Burnham, Michael Manley and Dr. Eric Williams, the Prime Ministers of Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago respectively, were the four original signatories on 4 July 1973, at Chaguaramas in Trinidad and Tobago.
