Border Control Officers begin attachment in Belize

(Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) - The CARICOM Secretariat's Director of Single Market, Mr. Leo Preville says sustained capacity building is key for implementation of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME).

Mr. Preville was speaking at a planning meeting ahead of the final segment of the CARICOM Skilled Workers Programme (SWP), which begins 31 March in Belize.

CARICOM Secretariat’s energy use under state-of-the-art energy management system

(CARICOM Secretariat, Georgetown, Guyana) - Energy at the CARICOM Secretariat is now managed through a state-of-the-art Building Energy Management System (BEMS).

This information technology allows the tracking of energy supplied and used by the national grid and from the Solar Photovoltaic Power Generation Plant, which was constructed on the grounds of the CARICOM Secretariat.

ANTIGUA-HOUSING-Government unveils new housing project

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – The ruling United Progressive Party (UPP) says more than 1,000 nationals will be employed at a factory that will begin constructing homes on the island.


"The construction of the Baupanel factory also forms one component of the UPP’s strategy for job creation and economic diversification. The benefit to the local economy of the new factory is estimated at EC$200 million (one EC dollar = US$0.37 cents), and when complete the factory will employ well over 1000 Antiguans and Barbudans,” said UPP Spokesperson, Malaka Parker."

CARICOM DEVELOPMENT THEATRE TO TRAIN YOUTHS IN HIV/AIDS FIGHT

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Caribbean Community Secretariat is organising a series of youth workshops, using the Visual and Performing Arts as a means of empowering young people in the fight against HIV and AIDS.

The ultimate objective of this series of workshops is to engage and involve youth across the Region in developing a sustainable regional response to HIV and AIDS as well as other social problems related to HIV and AIDS.
