ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC – The ruling United Progressive Party (UPP) says more than 1,000 nationals will be employed at a factory that will begin constructing homes on the island.

"The construction of the Baupanel factory also forms one component of the UPP’s strategy for job creation and economic diversification. The benefit to the local economy of the new factory is estimated at EC$200 million (one EC dollar = US$0.37 cents), and when complete the factory will employ well over 1000 Antiguans and Barbudans,” said UPP Spokesperson, Malaka Parker."

The Baldwin Spencer administration over the last weekend unveiled the first homes produced through the joint venture with Spanish-based Baupanel SL, which is now constructing a factory here that will serve as its production headquarters for the Caribbean and South American regions.
