CARICOM Assistant Secretary-General (ASG) Elizabeth Solomon says the Region agrees on a paradigm shift to align its education sector with the global agenda for education transformation.
The ASG made this declaration during her remarks at the 48th Meeting of the Council for Human and Social Development (COHSOD) Education, taking place in Trinidad and Tobago, 24-25 October 2024.
This crucial effort is poised to transform how the people of the Caribbean Community access instructional programmes or courses that focus on the skills required for a specific job function or trade.
In a message to celebrate Trinidad and Tobago’s sixty-second anniversary of independence on 31 August, CARICOM Secretary-General Dr Carla Barnett lauds the country’s contribution in the international arena as well as its consistent efforts to ensure that climate change remains at the forefront of the global agenda. Trinidad and Tobago’s work on the strengthening of the multilateral system including comprehensive reform of the United Nations Security Council, also received recognition.
On 3 and 4 July 2024, The National Musical Instrument Bill 2024 was debated in Trinidad and Tobago’s Parliament to declare the Steelpan as the country’s National Musical Instrument. Senator the Honourable Randall Mitchell, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts, piloted the Bill in the House of Representatives and the Senate, respectively.

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago will hold a Regional Symposium addressing Crime and Violence as a Public Health Issue, 17-18 April 2023, at the Hyatt Regency, Trinidad and Tobago.
A Regional Symposium on “Violence as a Public Health Issue – The Crime Challenge” will be held at the Hyatt Regency, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago on the 17-18 April, 2023.
The Symposium will be hosted by the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr the Hon. Keith Rowley and will be attended by CARICOM Heads of Government.
