(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) H.E. Edwin Carrington, Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), has expressed his gratitude to the Government of Canada for the “significant support” it had rendered to the community.

Speaking at a press conference Thursday at the conclusion of the Second Meeting of the Secretary-General and Heads of Community Institutions at the CARICOM Secretariat, Secretary-General Carrington thanked Canada for the “keen interest” it had paid in the areas of Agriculture, Climate Change and in development projects in the Region.

He also was appreciative of Canada’s assistance with regard to Haiti. The Secretary-General announced that Canada had agreed to make a significant contribution to Haiti and its participation in the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME).
