`The Caribbean Community is exultant today as the top two teams in the men’s sprint relay have come from the Region.

The young men from Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago have once again demonstrated that the people of the Caribbean are able to compete successfully with the rest of the world and triumph over the best that is on offer. They have given us all a lesson that hard work combined with talent, guidance and teamwork can carry us to the pinnacle regardless of the field of endeavour.

As Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community, I am extremely proud of this achievement which included a world record for the Jamaican team and I am sure I speak for the rest of the Community when I say well done Jamaica, well done Trinidad and Tobago. You have put the Caribbean on top of the world.’
