Wholehearted Caribbean Community support for Belize on its 37th Independence Anniversary

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has restated its wholehearted support for Belize’s stance on its sovereignty as the country celebrates 37 years of independence.

CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque in a congratulatory message to Prime Minister Dean Barrow  noted that the theme of the celebrations, “Belize Da Fi Wi – Now and Forever 8867!”, highlights the staunch position of Belizeans that their country unequivocally belongs to them, a position the Caribbean Community wholeheartedly supports.

US accuses Russian agents of stirring eastern Ukraine unrest

WASHINGTON/LUHANSK, Ukraine (Reuters) – US Secretary of State John Kerry accused Russian agents and special forces yesterday of stirring separatist unrest in eastern Ukraine, saying Moscow could be trying to prepare for military action as it had in Crimea.


Armed pro-Moscow protesters were still occupying Ukrainian government buildings in two cities in the largely Russian-speaking east yesterday, although police ended a third occupation in a lightning night-time operation.

Obama ordered sanctions on those responsible for Moscow’s military intervention in Ukraine, including bans on travel to the United States and freezing of their U.S. assets.

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia hopes the U.N. Security Council will agree a resolution this week to support a deal for Syria to abandon its chemical arms, but talks with the United States have been rocky, a senior Russian diplomat said on Tuesday.
Speaking before negotiations expected on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov reiterated Russia's opposition to any threat of military action against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's government.
