Regional countries urged to ratify ICC treaty

Jul 17, 2013

LIMA, Peru, CMC – The Coalition for the International Criminal Court (ICC) is calling on the governments of the Bahamas, Haiti and Jamaica to join their Caribbean Community (CARICOM) member-countries and ratify the Rome Statute of the ICC.
The Coalition for the International Criminal Court is a global network of civil society organizations in 150 countries working in partnership to strengthen international cooperation with the ICC and ensure that the Court is fair, effective and independent.
In separate letters to the three Caribbean governments, the Coalition noted that in a region with significant representation before the ICC, the three countries have yet to surpass some remaining hurdles in order to join the 122 nations that have recognized the jurisdiction of the ICC.
