Statement by the Chair of the Caribbean Community, Honourable Dickon Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada on increasing vigilance following the Mpox outbreak

The recent declaration by the World Health Organization (WHO) regarding the outbreak of mpox, specifically the more transmissible clade 1b, emphasises the importance of heightened vigilance within the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). As of 14 August 2024, this outbreak has been classified as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC), which necessitates a unified and proactive approach.

CARPHA Donates Public Health Supplies to Grenada to Support Recovery Efforts Post-Hurricane Beryl

In response to the recent catastrophic hurricane that struck Carriacou and Petite Martinique of Grenada, and Union Island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA)  has purchased essential public health supplies to assist in improving hygiene, sanitation, and the prevention and control of vector-borne and other infectious diseases. The donation to Grenada was made on July 31st  and the donation to St. Vincent and the Grenadines will be done on August 7th, 2024.

CARICOM Stakeholders Meet to Craft Regional Approach to Migration Policy

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, 3 July 2024 - Caribbean Public Health Day (CPHD) is celebrated annually on 2 July to raise awareness about public health’s vital role in the lives of Caribbean people and to highlight the work of the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA). This day coincides with the anniversary of CARPHA, the Region’s sole public health agency, which was legally established in July 2011 and operationalized in 2013 following the signing of an Intergovernmental Agreement by CARICOM Heads of Government.
