CARICOM Private Sector Organisation (CPSO)
The CARICOM Private Sector Organisation (CPSO) is an Associate Institution of the Caribbean Community invited by the Conference of Heads of Government to engage, in a formal and structured manner, with the Organs of the Caribbean Community in an effort to secure the full implementation of the CSME.

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat is ensuring that vital stakeholders continue to be well informed about the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) and its significant benefits. On Wednesday, October 5, a one-day CSME sensitization workshop is being hosted in Barbados. Approximately 30 participants from private sector bodies and rural communities will convene at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre for information sharing and dialogue regarding the CSME.
A special session on Thursday with the Region’s private sector will headline the final Ministerial Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) for this year as efforts continue to position the business sector to drive growth and development.
The private sector is considered a critical partner in the Region’s quest for economic resilience, which is a key element of the Community’s Five-Year Strategic Plan.
Action to ensure that the CARICOM Single Market (CSM) is placed on a more efficient footing to benefit Community nationals; the importance of standards and consumer protection; and the role of the private sector in Regional development, were among the key matters Trade Ministers took decisions on when they met in Georgetown, Guyana, 23-24 April, 2015.
CSME
The Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export) has awarded some €303,000 in financial assistance to seventeen (17) successful grant applications via the Direct Assistance Grant Scheme (DAGS) in Saint Lucia. Additionally a further three firms were awarded just over €29,000 in funding via a special call for proposals for food safety all , as part of the Regional Private Sector Development Programme (RPSDP) funded by the European Union under the 10th European Development Fund (EDF).
