RULES OF THE CCJ TO BE TOP PRIORITY AFTER INAUGURATION

(CARICOM Secretariat, Georgetown, Guyana) Judges of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) will forge ahead to complete the crafting of rules to engage and govern the Court's proceedings after its grand inauguration on 16 April 2005 in Trinidad and Tobago.

At a press conference in the twin-Island republic on the eve of the inauguration, President of the CCJ, Hon. Mr Justice Michael de la Bastide heralded the inaugural event as the celebration of the birth of a Regional institution whose gestation spans over three decades.

CARICOM/PANCAP PARTNERS IN NEW HIV/AIDS LANDMARK

(CARICOM Secretariat, Georgetown, Guyana) The decision by the Pan Caribbean Partnership Against HIV/AIDS (PANCAP) and its partners: The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), the German Development Bank (KfW) and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) for a regional social marketing programme represents a new landmark in the Caribbean's response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. This decision was the result of a joint agency meeting that was concluded in Georgetown earlier this week.

CARICOM SERVICES STATISTICS WORKSHOP ENDS

(CARICOM Secretariat, Georgetown, Guyana) The three-day workshop on Services Statistics convened by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat Statistics Programme with funding from the USAID Caribbean Trade and Competitiveness Programme (CTRADECOM) ended in Barbados on Wednesday 13th April with discussions focussed on the profile of the financial sectors and challenges faced in the compilation of data in the Region.

CCJ INAUGURATION TO BE BROADCAST LIVE

(CARICOM Secretariat, Georgetown, Guyana) Citizens of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will be privy to the opening ceremony to mark the inauguration of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) on Saturday 16 April in Trinidad and Tobago. The event will be broadcast live commencing at 9:00 a.m. on all Caribbean Media Corporation's (CMC) Member Stations. Caribbean media specialist Mr. Julian Rogers will anchor the broadcast. The formal inauguration ceremony as well as a planned interfaith service will be held at Queen's Hall in Trinidad and Tobago.

WORKSHOP ON INTERNATIONAL TRADE IN SERVICES FOR CARICOM MEMBER STATES

(CARICOM Secretariat, Georgetown, Guyana) Member States of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will benefit from a Regional workshop on International Trade in Services set for 11-14 April in Barbados, geared to equip the Region for its new trade arrangements in the international arena and more so within the context of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME).
