CARICOM Youth Ambassadors Examine Biodiversity, Healthy Lifestyle Project In Central Guyana

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) A group of Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Youth Ambassadors (CYA)are presently in Guyana working with their peers from across the Region to develop strategies to fight against HIV/AIDS. This they are doing while at the same time observing Guyana’s biodiversity, by journeying to the central part of the country for a three-day visit to the one million acreage Iwokrama Rainforest Conservation and Development reserve.

CARICOM LEADERS MEET TO DISCUSS SINGLE MARKET LAUNCH

CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Heads of Government will hold a Special Meeting at the Sherbourne Centre, Barbados on Wednesday 7 December to discuss the finalisation of arrangements for the launching of the CARICOM Single Market (CSM) on 1 January 2006.

The target date had been set by the Conference of Heads of Government in 2002 at their Thirteenth Inter-Sessional meeting in Belize.

VIGOROUS APPROACHES NEEDED TO STEM HIV/AIDS

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Mr. Edwin Carrington yesterday issued a call for the Region to pay even closer attention to HIV/AIDS as it threatened to devastate the Region’s productive sector.
 
Speaking at a press dialogue at the CARICOM Secretariat Headquarters in Georgetown, Guyana, on World AIDS Day, 1 December, the Secretary-General told the media that “HIV/AIDS is everybody’s business.”
