REMARKS BY HIS EXCELLENCY EDWIN W. CARRINGTON, SECRETARY-GENERAL,  THE CARIBBEAN FORUM OF AFRICAN CARIBBEAN AND PACIFIC STATES           (CARIFORUM), ON THE OCCASION OF THE CARIFORUM-EC DIALOGUE ON REGIONAL COOPERATION AND INTEGRATION, 18 JULY 2009, ST. JOHN’S, ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA

In my capacity as Secretary-General of CARIFORUM, it is a pleasure to join the Honourable Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda and Senator, the Honourable Charlotte Tessa Mangal of Saint Lucia and the CARIFORUM Co-Chair, in welcoming you all to this CARIFORUM-EC Dialogue on Regional Cooperation and Integration.

Today is a day of special significance in CARIFORUM/European Union Relations. We will experience the many dimensions of that relationship. We will first witness the signature of a Country Strategy Paper (CSP) between the European Commission and Antigua and Barbuda, a Member State of CARIFORUM.

  It is a great pleasure to be here today and to have this opportunity to engage with you in this Dialogue on Regional Integration and further integration.

I want to extend special thanks to the Prime Minister and the Government of Antigua and Barbuda for their hosting of this meeting and also to thank all those who have been instrumental in its organisation.

CARICOM MAINTAINS MOMENTUM

 
(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has maintained the momentum in the wake of the recently concluded Thirtieth Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government, held in Georgetown, Guyana.

CARICOM MAINTAINS MOMENTUM

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has maintained the momentum in the wake of the recently concluded Thirtieth Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government, held in Georgetown, Guyana.

The CARICOM Secretariat, with the support of its international development partners, has coordinated three meetings this week, two in Antigua and Barbuda, and the other in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

CARICOM TO CONVENE MEETING OF REGIONAL FOCAL POINTS AND NATIONAL COORDINATORS

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The CARICOM Secretariat will convene the First Joint Meeting of National CSME Focal Points and National Coordinators of the CARICOM Trade and Competitiveness Project (CTCP) on 20 - 21 July 2009.

The Meeting is made possible through the assistance of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) as part of the CARICOM Trade and Competitiveness Project (CTCP) and the European Union.
