CARICOM youth ambassador praises CSME advocacy workshop

GEORGETOWN, Guyana -- CARICOM Youth Ambassador Sonia Boddie has praised the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat for its hosting of a two-day CARICOM Youth Ambassadors (CYA) CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) advocacy workshop, funded by the European Union and held in Georgetown, Guyana from May 29 - 30, in which she participated.

CARICOM Reducing Youth on Youth Violence programme to support youth violence reduction initiatives in St. Kitts and Nevis

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     The capacity of the Cayon secondary school and community to deal with issues related to youth on youth violence should be significantly enhanced with the implementation of the Reducing Youth on Violence Pilot Programme in St. Kitts and Nevis.  National consultations are currently being hosted in that country under the CARICOM – Spain ‘Reducing Youth on Youth Violence in CARCIOM Member States Pilot Project.

Region needs to be prepared for data revolution

National Consultations for Reducing Youth on Youth Violence in CARICOM Member States go to Jamaica

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     Youngsters from the Anchovy High School in St. James, Jamaica should soon be benefitting from a series of capacity building training workshops and other activities to build resilience, strengthen protective factors and reduce threats related to violence among students under the CARICOM – Spain ‘Reducing Youth on Youth Violence in CARICOM Member States Pilot Project which is being piloted in their school. 

Professional statisticians’ body gets Board of Directors

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     Dr. Philomen Harrison, Project Director, Regional Statistics, CARICOM Secretariat, is the President of the Board of Directors of the newly formed Caribbean Association of Caribbean Statisticians (CAPS).
Dr. Harrison was named President at the first meeting of the CAPS held in St. George’s, Grenada, on Thursday. 

EU willing to fund study on cost of not having CARICOM - Envoy

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     The European Union (EU) is willing to fund a study that would explore the opportunity costs of not having a Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in place.
Mr. Ewout Sandker, Head of Cooperation, Delegation of the EU to Guyana, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago and the Dutch Overseas Countries and Territories, made the announcement on Monday 26 May during the High Level Advocacy Forum on Statistics in Grenada.

More official commitment, resources needed – High Level Forum agrees

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     Participants at a high level meeting on Monday underscored the need for increased advocacy for more official commitment to statistics and the mobilization of additional resources for the field.
Those were among the issues that stakeholders in the field of statistics identified as critically important to the overall development of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
