CARICOM Secretariat hosts statistics workshop in Kingstown

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Georgetown, Guyana)      In its continuing quest to train personnel and boost the profile of statistics in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the CARICOM Secretariat will host a Training Workshop on Merchandise Trade Statistics in Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Trinidad and Tobago signs important protocol

“Trinidad and Tobago on Friday signed the Protocol to Amend Article 83 of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas establishing the Caribbean Community including the CARICOM Single Market and Economy.

This important Protocol clarifies the flexibility afforded to COTED (Council for Trade and Economic Development) in its administration of the Common External Tariff, which is a fundamental element of the CARICOM Single Market.

Community Council gets update on developments related to prorogation of Guyana’s Parliament

The Community Council received an update from the Foreign Minister of Guyana regarding developments in relation to the prorogation of the Parliament of Guyana.  Ministers recalled that the Government of Guyana had formally advised the Caribbean Community regarding the prorogation and the reason for this course of action.

In her update, the Foreign Minister advised of the imminent announcement of elections by the President of Guyana.

Community Council condemns acts of terrorism in Nigeria

Recalling the statement of the COFCOR condemning acts of terrorism in Nigeria, the  Community Council of Ministers expresses strong condemnation of the continuing brutal massacre of thousands of innocent civilians in Nigeria by the terrorist group Boko Haram.

The Council appeals to the international community to display greater urgency in addressing the continuing slaughter by these terrorists in Nigeria and nearby countries. 

Community Council Chairman expresses confidence in Community

CARICOM issues message of condolence to the Government and people of France
