The Meeting of the Bureau of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Heads of Government involving the Chairman, the Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, the Hon. Basdeo Panday, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago and the Rt. Hon. Sir James Mitchell, Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Mr. Edwin Carrington, Secretary-General, CARICOM, scheduled for Saturday, 3 June, 2000 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines has been postponed.
In the absence of Prime Minister Douglas from the Region during the last week, the Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines has been in consultation with various Heads of Government and the consultations are continuing. In light of this situation, it was agreed that the process of consultation should be allowed to continue before deciding on the fixing of a date for a meeting of the Bureau.
The CARICOM Secretary-General will however be meeting with the Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines - the incoming Chairman and Host of the upcoming Twenty-First Meeting of CARICOM Heads of Government - to discuss matters relating to that Meeting.
