Opposition critical of funds spent on PM annual gala

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, CMC – Opposition Leader Shawn Richards has criticised the St. Kitts-Nevis government of wasting much needed funds in hosting the Annual Prime Minister’s New Year’s Gala at a time when the twin-island federation could ill afford to do so.
The gala was held over the weekend and with American actor, producer and humanitarian Danny Glover and Citigroup’s chief executive officer Izzat Dajani the guest speakers
“What a way to start the New Year - hearing the unique views of two global luminaries: one in the field of film, human rights, and justice; the other in the field of international finance and investment,” said the Chairperson of the Gala Committee and senior government minister Marcella Liburd, who added that international entertainment would be provided by the international comedian Owen “Blakka” Elis.
