ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada, CMC - Governor General Dame Cecile La Grenade will deliver her first the throne speech on Friday, October 4, when Grenada opens the second session of the ninth Parliament at the Trade Center – the temporary home of Parliament since the passage of Hurricane Ivan in 2004.
Delivering the Throne Speech is the highlight of a traditional ceremonial event involving the members of both the lower and upper houses, which signals the start of new parliamentary year.
In what will be her first Throne Speech since being appointed Governor General earlier this year, Dame La Grenade is expected to announce the new and ongoing plans, programmes and projects to be undertaken by the Government during the parliamentary year.
