New money in June

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Advocate - From June 4, Barbadians will have their hands on crisp, boldly coloured, newly designed bank notes. News of this broke yesterday at the Central Bank at the launch of the new family of currency notes. Though the same familiar portraits of well accredited Barbadians and the familiar colours will remain associated with each note denomination, the bills have been modernised in design, with several new features being added to boost security as well as assist the visually impaired. Said Dr. Delisle Worrell, Governor of the Central Bank in his opening remarks, “The new notes have a contemporary layout and design that mirrors our status as a modern nation but that at the same time honours our history and our culture”. All of the denominations remain in the same colour: $2 bill in blue, $5 bill in green, $10 bill in brown, $20 bill in purple, $50 bill in orange and green and the $100 bill in grey, red and blue.
