MESSAGE OF CONDOLENCE TO BRAZIL ON DEATH OF UNITED NATIONS SPECIAL ENVOY MR. SERGIO VIEIRA DE MELLO

Aug 21, 2003

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil and has the honour to convey the following message.

“The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat expresses its deepest condolences on the tragic passing of United Nations Special Envoy Mr. Sergio Vieira de Mello, who died in service for humanity.

The sudden brutality that took the life of this stellar world citizen is even more magnified when held against the background of his dedication and commitment to democracy and peace.

It is with deep sorrow that we join the people of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the rest of the world in mourning.”

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat avails itself of this opportunity to renew to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federative Republic of Brazil, the assurances of its highest consideration.
