PM Gonsalves to attend ALBA Bank meeting in Caracas

KINGSTOWN, St. Vincent, CMC – Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves is travelling to Venezuela Friday to attend a meeting of the Bolivarian Alliance for Our Americas (ALBA) Bank. “I have to be on a plane around 12 o’clock,” he told Parliament Thursday night. “There is a ministerial meeting of the ALBA Bank and I looked at the agenda and it has some great interest to me. That meeting is at 3 o’clock in Caracas in Venezuela so I will like to leave here at midday,” he said before announcing a resumption of Parliament on Friday morning at 9.a.m (local time).

PM Spencer optimistic about possible solution to long running gaming dispute with US

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, CMC –The Antigua and Barbuda government says it is encouraged by talks with United States Vice President Joe Biden about the prospects in the cross border gaming dispute between the two countries. A government statement is quoting Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer as saying that the matter had been raised during Biden’s recent visit to Trinidad and Tobago for talks with Caribbean Community (CARICOM) leaders.

Mitchell administration points to progress during first 100 days in office

NEW YORK, CMC – Grenada’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Business, Nickolas Steele, claims the new Keith Mitchell administration has accomplished more in its first 100 days in office compared to what was accomplished by the former administration of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by Tillman Thomas . “In my opinion, we have achieved more that what the NDC achieved in 4 ½ years,” Steele told the Caribbean Media Corporation in an interview on Wednesday.

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados - THE Ministry of the Environment remains committed to Barbados’ goal of becoming the greenest economy in the Caribbean and Latin America. Minister Dr Denis Lowe made the pledge yesterday at The Crane Residential Resort, St Philip, where he toured a showcase under the theme Think, Eat, Save as the hotel commemorated World Environment Day. Lowe said the journey to a green economy would be determined by how the island’s environment was treated “because we believe that we can have a sustainable economy without compromising the virtues of our environment”.
