Jul 22, 2013

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Rodger Samuel Monday began a week long fast “for the soul of the nation” amid growing speculation here that he is preparing to quit the Trinidad and Tobago government. “I believe there is some force that is attempting to steal the soul of Trinidad and Tobago, and I need to beseech God to save the soul of the nation. Too much is happening and too much has happened over the years,” Samuel said in a newspaper interview published here. There has been speculation that Samuel, who said he had resigned from the Congress of the People (COP) party, the second major partner in the coalition People’s Partnership government, would quit the government.
