CARICOM Competition Commission Celebrating 15 Years of Regional Service

The CARICOM Competition Commission (“CCC”) is established under Article 171 of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas. Located in Paramaribo, Suriname, the CCC is one of the key institutions to support the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME), ensuring that the aim of implementing the Single Market is not frustrated by cross-border anti-competitive business conduct. 

The Caribbean Public Health Agency observes 10th anniversary in 2023

This year, the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) observes its 10-year anniversary. 

CARPHA became the new single regional public health agency for the Caribbean when it was legally established in July 2011.  However, the Agency began its operations in 2013, after an Intergovernmental Agreement was signed by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Member States. 

Caribbean Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CCREEE)

The Thirty-Sixth Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the CARICOM, held in Bridgetown, Barbados, 2 to 4 July 2015, endorsed the establishment of the CCREEE as the implementation hub for sustainable energy activities and projects within the region.

Due to its susceptibility to climate change, the Caribbean Community has traditionally been a main supporter of climate-related initiatives. This was demonstrated early on through its strong support of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), an international environmental treaty that was created in 1992.
