(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) - The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Peru are strengthening their diplomatic and cooperation ties, with Secretary-General Dr. Carla Barnett noting that this relationship could serve as a prime example of South-South cooperation.

A significant step in solidifying their relationship was recorded on Wednesday 19 March, when Dr Barnett accredited a new Extraordinary Ambassador of Peru to CARICOM, Her Excellency Claudia Giuliana Betalleluz Otiura.

Antigua and Barbuda on 12 March, ratified the Agreement under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ Agreement).  

The country joins Belize, Barbados and Saint Lucia, as the latest CARICOM Member State to ratify the agreement which is among the family of treaties governing the High Seas.

(Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) - The Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) has warmly congratulated His Excellency Albert Ramdin, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Business and International Cooperation of Suriname, on his historic election as the new Secretary-General of the Organization of American States (OAS).

The Hon. Dickon Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada, will lead a review of the telecommunications environment in the Region. Prime Minister Mitchell is Lead Head of Government with responsibility for Science and Technology in the CARICOM Quasi Cabinet.
