CARICOM Equipping Youth to Tackle Climate Change and Health Challenges

Thursday 18 April 2024 (CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown): Empowering CARICOM Youth Ambassadors (CYAs) and other Youth Leaders with technical knowledge and expertise to confront the global challenge of climate change is a main goal of the upcoming “CARICOM Climate Change and Health Orientation and Training for CYAs and Youth Leaders” which will take place from 23-26 April at the CARICOM Secretariat’s Headquarters in Georgetown, Guyana.

CARICOM, CITES Secretariats raise awareness, build capacity on wildlife conservation in Dominica and Grenada

Dominica and Grenada are now better equipped to manage and protect trade in wildlife following workshops the CARICOM Secretariat organised recently to ensure compliance with multilateral environmental agreements.

The workshops provided technical support to develop national, legal framework and institutional guidelines to implement the Convention on International Trade in Endangered species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) to which all CARICOM Member States are signatories.

"My Health, My Right": World Health Day 2024

On 7 April, the world celebrates World Health Day to raise awareness and encourage action on global health issues. The theme for this year’s commemoration, "My Health, My Right", emphasises the importance of affordable, accessible, and high-quality healthcare services for all, including addressing inequalities and investing in resilient health systems for CARICOM Member States. By investing in these health systems, CARICOM Member States can guarantee that everyone can access quality healthcare services without experiencing financial hardship.

Message from the Caribbean Community on the passing of The Rt. Hon. Michael de la Bastide

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) mourns the loss of the Right Honourable Mr. Justice Michael de la Bastide who passed away on 30 March 2024.

Mr. Justice de la Bastide was the first President of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ), a role to which he applied his extensive knowledge of the law and administration. He will be remembered for establishing the foundation for high-functioning, responsive regional jurisprudence, the hallmark of the CCJ.
