(Caribbean Community Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) - President-Counsellor of the Haitian Transitional Presidential Council (TPC), His Excellency Laurent Saint Cyr, has called on the Community to embrace Haiti as a land of opportunity.

He invited partners to support economic recovery in key sectors such as infrastructure, the green economy, innovation, education and training, cultural tourism, and security, particularly in the greater north and greater south.

"Reparations for Haiti continue to be central to CARICOM’s reparations claim.  April 2025 marks the bicentenary of the indemnity of 150 million Francs imposed on Haiti by France as reparations for loss of property, including enslaved Africans, and as a precondition for recognising the island’s independence. The negative economic and social effects of this historical injustice are painfully clear, with arguable links to the situation in Haiti today.

"The Community remains committed to collaborating with Haiti in its pursuit of lasting peace, security, economic prosperity and social progress, which are stepping stones to the quality of life that the people of Haiti fully deserve and the prosperity and advancement to which all Caribbean citizens aspire."

Through it all, our modus operandi has been to speak with one voice and to premise all our interactions on the vision of a Caribbean Community, which is truly “A Community for All”.
