GUYANA-COURT-Eight passengers suing Caribbean Airlines

Aug 02, 2013

GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – More than two years after they were injured when a Caribbean Airlines (CAL) plane overshot the runway at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), eight of the passengers have filed a lawsuit against the Trinidad-based carrier. The passengers through documents filed through their attorneys - Sase Gunraj and Jaya Singh – last last month are each claiming damages in excess of one million dollars (One Guyana dollar = US$0.01 cents) for personal injuries, loss and damage suffered in the crash on July 30, 2011. The documents show they are accusing CAL of negligent operation of Flight BW523 and are also seeking interest, costs and such further or other order that the court may deem fit.
