Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago take titles: CARICOM 10K

Guyanese Cleveland Forde and Trinidadian Tonya Nero made it two in a row when they retained their male and female titles respectively in the 2015 edition of the CARICOM 10K race held in Bridgetown Barbados, Sunday 28 June 2015.
Forde followed up his 2014 win with victory in a close and exciting race among the top males. He clocked 33 minutes 11 seconds to edge out Jamaican Kirk Browne 33.15, and six time winner of the event Pamenos Ballantine of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, 33.19.

Nero led the female runners home in 37 minutes 06 seconds, ahead of Linda McDowald of St. Vincent and the Grenadines 39.40 and Andrea Foster of Guyana 42.13.
A record equaling eleven CARICOM Member States were represented in this year’s event – the 11th edition, with Antigua and Barbuda and The Bahamas lining up for the first time.
The 10K was preceded by 5K Open and Secondary School races, and a one mile event for primary students. More than 150 athletes participated in the race series.
The CARICOM 10K is held annually in the run-up to the Regular Meeting of CARICOM Heads of Government which takes place this year in Barbados, 2-4 July.

Guyana, SVG win male, female CARICOM 10k title
