COTED officials meet to prepare for Ministerial session in June

Preparations have begun for the 60th Meeting of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED), which will be held early next month in Georgetown, Guyana.

Under the chairmanship of Honourable Kerrie Symmonds, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Barbados, regional ministers responsible for trade and economic development will meet 10-11 June.

CARICOM, ILO conducting labour market analysis to shape regional migration policy

The International Labour Organization (ILO), in collaboration with the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat, launched the consultancy: Free Movement of Persons in the CARICOM Region: Undertaking Labour Market Analysis in the Region to inform the development of a comprehensive labour migration policy for the region.

CARICOM’s 47th Heads of Government Meeting set for St George’s, Grenada

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) - Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Heads of Government will meet in St George’s, Grenada, from 3-5 July 2024, for their 47th Regular Meeting.

The Meeting’s agenda will comprise the agri-food systems work programme which prioritises food and nutrition security; climate change and sustainable development; foreign policy; the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME); and engagement with social partners.

CARICOM Trade Ministers meet in Georgetown for 58th COTED

CARICOM Ministers with responsibility for trade began a two-day meeting on Tuesday 14 May at the CARICOM Secretariat in Georgetown, Guyana.

Senator the Hon. Paula Gopee-Scoon, Minister of Trade and Industry of Trinidad and Tobago, is the Chair the 58th Regular Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED).

Second Distinguished Owen Arthur Memorial Lecture by CARICOM Secretary-General

CARICOM Secretary-General, Dr. Carla Barnett on Monday 5 September delivered the Second Distinguished Owen Arthur Memorial Lecture in Bridgetown, Barbados. The lecture was delivered under the theme 'The Future of CARICOM; Charting a Vision for the Region's Economic Advancement'.

It was organised by the the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus, Shridath Ramphal Centre, and the Caribbean Development Bank.

Implementation Plan for the CSME 2017-2019

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has taken steps to accelerate the use of the measures under the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME). The Conference of Heads of Government in July 2017, approved the Implementation Plan for the CSME 2017-2019 which coincides with the CARICOM Strategic Plan (2015-2019).

The Plan is a comprehensive document which details the level of implementation of measures called for by the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas or decisions taken by Community Organs.
