The Third Quarterly Meeting of the Project Management Group (PMG) of the European Union-funded project for "Strengthening the Institutional Response to HIV/AIDS/STI in the Caribbean" will be held in Trinidad and Tobago from 17-18 January, 2002.

Foremost among the issues to be addressed at this meeting will be a comprehensive review of project implementation activities during the initial six (6) months, and the preparation of a detailed Work Programme and Cost Estimates for the approval of the funding agency for the year 2002. The meeting will also finalize decisions on aspects of technical and financial reporting on project activities.

The meeting will be convened under the chairmanship of Dr. Edward Greene, Assistant Secretary-General, Human and Social Development, representatives of all members of the Project Management Group are expected to be in attendance.

The membership of the Project Management Group (PMG) comprises the CARICOM Secretariat in its capacity as the project executing agency and the five implementing agencies - the Caribbean Epidemiological Centre (CAREC), the Caribbean Regional Network of people living with HIV/AIDS (CRN+), the Caribbean Health Research Council (CHRC), the University of the West Indies (UWI) and the United Nations Programme on AIDS (UNAIDS).

The project commenced on 1 July 2001, and is of three (3) years duration with funding support in the amount of Euros 6.9 million.
