Guyana public sector representatives benefit from Competition Law and Policy training

More than fifteen public sector  representatives in Guyana are now more empowered to address issues  related to competition law and policy, as a result of training received at a CARIFORUM-EU workshop held from 17 -21 October 2016, in Georgetown.

The workshop on competition law and policy was designed to increase knowledge and awareness and to build the intuitional capacity of agencies to implement the CARIFORIM-EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).

 

More steps underway to produce high quality statistics

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is embarking on a project to strengthen capacity to measure the contribution of international trade in services to the economies of Member States by their trading partners.

The project is to be funded by the European Union under the Tenth European Development Fund (10th EDF).

Customs Officers get training - under CARIFORUM–EU agreement

Several local customs officers, as well as stakeholders in the public and private sector benefitted from a customs and trade facilitation capacity workshop, conducted today at the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA.)

The workshop, held in the agency’s Training Room, at Camp Street, forms part of a slew of capacity building initiatives being implemented across the region, under the Caribbean Forum CARIFORUM–EU (European Union) Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).

EPA to benefit Departments of Statistics, Bureau of Standards

Basseterre, St. Kitts - The Launch of the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA)/CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) Standby Facility for Capacity Building Projects, held on Thursday morning at the Ocean Terrace Inn, has been described as a momentous occasion by the Minister of International Trade, Commerce and Consumers Affairs, the Honourable Lindsay Grant.

CDB meets with Haiti’s Minister of Commerce and Industry to Discuss EPA/CSME Projects

Port-au-Prince – Edward Greene, Division Chief of the Technical Cooperation Division of the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB)  held talks yesterday with the Minister of Commerce and Industry of Haiti that were described as both “frank and productive”. In addition, Greene met with a senior official of CARIFESTA, the Caribbean Festival of the Arts, and affirmed the Bank’s commitment to support of the creative arts.  Haiti is playing host to CARIFESTA XII from August 21-30.

The Third Meeting of the Joint CARIFORUM-European Union (EU) Council under the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) took place in Georgetown, Guyana, on 16 July 2015. The Meeting was held under the chairmanship of Hon. Oliver Joseph, Minister of Economic Development, Planning, Trade, Cooperatives and International Business of Grenada.
