Digital Skills Commission on CARICOM Heads of Government agenda

Steps to establish a Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Digital Skills Commission will be discussed at the 48th Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM in Bridgetown, Barbados, 19-21 February 2025.

At their meeting in July last year under the chairmanship of the Hon. Dickon Mitchell, Lead Head of Government with responsibility for Science and Technology in the CARICOM Quasi Cabinet, the Heads of Government approved the Strategic Framework for Regional Digital Resilience 2025-2030.

Grenada Prime Minister to chair Special COTED on ICT

Chair of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM and Prime Minister of Grenada, the Hon. Dickon Mitchell, will preside over the 111th Special Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) on 5 December 2024, which will focus on Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Region needs to develop digital financial services sector – CTU President

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago – “The ITU, UNECLAC, the CTU, the various bankers’ associations, the central bankers, the anti-money laundering regulators, the digital financial Services technology providers, the cyber security experts and the consumer protection officials need to see how we, as a region, can develop our regional DFS sector,” stated Hon. Darcy W. Boyce, the President of the Caribbean Telecommunications Union, and Senator in the Office of the Prime Minister Energy, Immigration, Telecommunications and Invest Barbados.

Montserrat Formulating EGovernment Strategy

BRADES, Montserrat -- More than 15 senior members of staff from various government departments in Montserrat began a two-day workshop on developing an E-Government strategy during last month.

The workshop comes on the heels of the successful ICT Roadshow which highlighted the necessity for the island to develop a national information communication technologies (ICT) strategy, which would stimulate the island’s economy and social development.
