Developing the Region’s Human and Cultural assets takes spotlight as CARICOM Heads Meet in The Bahamas

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)     Heads of Government of Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Member States gather in The Bahamas for their 26th Inter-sessional Meeting, 26-27 February 2015. 

A major focus of this Meeting will be leveraging the Region’s human, cultural and natural assets to enhance the development of the Community.  Key discussion areas also include issues related to Reparations for Native Genocide and Slavery, and the Marijuana Commission.

The Opening Session of the Meeting at the Melia Nassau Beach Resort, will be addressed by CARICOM Chairman Rt. Hon. Perry Christie, Prime Minister of The Bahamas, immediate past Chairman, the Hon. Gaston Browne, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, and CARICOM Secretary-General, Ambassador Irwin LaRocque.

The Ceremony, which begins at 9:30 Bahamian time (10:30 Eastern Time) will be streamed live on the ZNS TV Bahamas website http://www.znsbahamas.com/ and on the CARICOM Today newsblog www.today.caricom.org
